Children's Food Campaign
We all want our children to grow up with nutritious, affordable and tasty food. But for many children across the UK this isn’t the case.
Millions are living in households experiencing food insecurity and children are being constantly bombarded with unhealthy advertising.
We believe it doesn’t have to be this way. We're holding the government and food and drinks industry to account to give children a chance at the healthy future they deserve.
About us
We bring together over 100 organisations, including children’s and health charities and professional bodies, trade unions, school food experts and environmental organisations. We campaign for policy changes in our schools, in our communities and throughout our society so that all children can easily eat sustainable and healthy food.
We’ve been running for over 20 years and during that time we have worked with partners to achieve a number of major successes including:
- Leading a successful campaign to introduce a sugary drinks tax.
- Urging the government to commit to restrictions on in-store junk food promotions as well as a 9pm TV watershed and online junk food advertising.
- Securing world leading legislation to restrict outdoor unhealthy food advertising, as well as advising on writing and implementing the policies for local governments starting with the Mayor of London.
- Campaigning for the introduction of School Food Standards, the introduction and continuation of Universal Infant Free School Meals, support for children to access free school meals and holiday support during the Coronavirus pandemic.
